BooksAndAuthor.com: Why do you write?
Geraldine D. Bryant: Since the age of nine I had an interest in writing. I created stories in my mind that always had a fairy tale ending. I bought composition books. Each time I made a mistake with a word or thought, I would draw a line through it or tear out the page and start over again and again, until I was satisfied. Eventually I stopped writing. Later in my young adult years I experienced a great deal of emotional pain and physical abuse, which I kept bottled-up inside. To obtain closure I felt the need to express this pain on paper.
What better way to help myself as well as someone else who may need to hear my story. Thus emerged, “Healing by His Spirit.”
BooksAndAuthor.com: Who are your literary influences?
Geraldine D. Bryant: My literary influences are Maya Angelou and Zora Neal Hurston.
BooksAndAuthor.com: Your new book is Healing by His Spirit which is based on a true story. Discuss
briefly.
Geraldine D. Bryant: The story depicts traumatic events which occurred in my life and God’s intervention that brought me
into a closer relationship with Him. Fear, insecurity, doubt and uncertainty gripped me. I learned to rely on God through prayer. As events unfold, I experience different levels of His healing power. It is a story that will teach you, no matter your circumstance, how to rise above adversity. It is a story of hope.
BooksAndAuthor.com: What is it about the spiritual genre you enjoy?
Geraldine D. Bryant: I grew up in the church from age six and I walk in faith. I embrace an unseen God and I can feel His
presence. Also, I love to listen to other people’s testimonies of God’s grace and goodness.
BooksAndAuthor.com: What are the key messages from Healing by His Spirit?
Geraldine D. Bryant: Most of the events I mention in my book are situations that happen to people every day. It is the end result that is different. One of the key messages is no matter how bad the problem, there is a solution.
For those who may feel lost, devastated, downtrodden, hopeless or helpless, there is a way out. The most important message is, prayer changes things.
BooksAndAuthor.com: What have readers been saying about Healing by His Spirit?
Geraldine D. Bryant: Readers say it’s an awesome book, a must read, well written, etc. Some tell me they are reading it for the second time. One comment in particular was, “I don’t know how you’re still standing.” My response
was, “by the grace of God.” I have asked my readers to honestly critique my book. I have had nothing but positive feedback.
BooksAndAuthor.com: What do you hope to achieve with Healing by His Spirit?
Geraldine D. Bryant: I hope to reach a mass of people, Christians and non-Christians alike. For those who face serious
challenges in their lives, those who need to find their purpose in life, those who feel so alone and those
who don’t know Jesus Christ, to open their heart and seek a relationship with Him. If I can help just one
person through my book, I can say writing “Healing by His Spirit” was well worth the effort.
BooksAndAuthor.com: What was the last book you read?
Geraldine D. Bryant: “A Purpose Driven Life” by Rick Warren
BooksAndAuthor.com: What’s next?
Geraldine D. Bryant: Healing by His Spirit has a cliffhanger ending. I would love to continue my story in a sequel. If the book does well, possibilities are endless.
